The Multimedia University College of Kenya was established by the Kenya Government under Legal Notice Number 155 of 2008 as a constituent college of Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), the successor to the Kenya College of Communications Technology (KCCT).

The University College aims at becoming a regional leader in the discovery, preservation and dissemination of knowledge in the areas of Information and Communications Technology and related academic disciplines.

ICT Director

Grade 13

Reporting to the Principal/CEO, the ICT Director is expected to provide strategic leadership and direction to the College in ICT related matters.

The ICT Director will oversee several functions including Network & Telecommunication Infrastructure, Information Systems and Operations & Client Support.

The ideal candidate should be able to appreciate and implement the strategic role of ICTs in teaching, research and administrative environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide ICT leadership and direction to College Management.
  • Provide leadership and direction to staff within the ICT Directorate.
  • Identify and implement effective automated processes to support the teaching, research and administrative divisions.
  • Ensure Business Continuity/Security for College Information Systems and Assets.
  • Project managing various in-house and/or externally contracted ICT projects.
Key Competencies
  • Candidate MUST have at least an MSc in IT/IS/Computer Science from a recognized university.
  • Candidate MUST have at least one relevant Professional Qualification (CCNA, CISA, CISM, MSCE, OCP
  • Minimum of seven (7) years experience in a technical Telecommunications/ Engineering/ IT management position
  • Belong to a relevant professional association (IEEE, ISACA, CSK)

Clinical Officer Ophthalmology, will have the overall responsibility for the daily clinical assessment and prescription of treatment for all patients attending the eye health unit

Responsibilities:
  • Provide consultations at the eye clinic 6 days a week
  • Diagnose, manage and refer cataract cases appropriately
  • Increase community awareness to participation in eye care especially cataract identification and referral
  • Perform cataract surgeries and refer complicated cases appropriately
  • Take part in planning and participating in eye camps
  • Ensure that all assessments and treatment provided are properly documented on patients files
  • Maintain an accurate and updated records keeping system in the health unit keeping in mind that any significant changes seen with regards to cases seen in health unit should be reported to the Doctor in charge and other relevant authorities
  • Admit patients to the wards when necessary and ensure that M.O. in-charge is promptly informed.
  • Maintain equipments in good condition and submit regular inventory report of the same
  • Compile and submit quarterly inventory return/ requisition of all drugs and supplies
Qualifications:
  • Higher Diploma in clinical medicine- Ophthalmology
  • At least 3 years relevant working experience.
  • Experience working with a non-profit humanitarian organization.
  • Must be flexible, culturally sensitive and ready to work in difficult environmental conditions
  • Fluency in English, including writing clear and concise reports. Knowledge of and fluency in Somali is added advantage.

Primary Function

Reporting to the Technical IT Manager, the primary role will be to monitor and maintain Compugoal Computer Service’s Client computer systems and networks, install and configure computer systems, diagnose hardware/software faults and solve technical and applications problems either over the phone or in person.

Develop manuals, standard operating procedures and training covering all aspects of technical information management in the Organization and ensure proper utilization and maintenance of information and data management equipment.

Essential Functions
  • Track, prioritize and document requests using an IT support request system
  • End user support, routine maintenance and Infrastructure support.
  • Maintaining inventory of equipment and IT supplies (cables, adapters, etc.)
  • Undertake the day to day operation of backup systems
  • Install and configure new computers and other IT equipment
  • Researching, learning, and evaluating new software testing and evaluating new technology.
  • Installing and configuring computer hardware operating systems and applications; and monitoring and maintaining computer systems and networks;
  • Troubleshooting system and network problems and diagnosing and solving hardware/software faults;
  • Providing support, including procedural and system documentation; setting up new users’ accounts and profiles and dealing with password issues;
  • Conducting electrical safety checks on computer equipment.
  • Any other duties that may be assigned by the technical manager.
Qualifications and Experience
  • A BSc. degree in Computer Science or Information Technology from a recognized university
  • Excellent Communication skills using speech and writing
  • Ability to systematically troubleshoot complex problems in printers, Scanners, Laptops and desktop computers
  • 3 years experience in the ICT field.
  • Mature and realistic approach towards job related assignments
  • Certified ICT qualifications will be an added advantage
  • Ability to manage and resolve conflicts in a mutually respectful manner
