Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Compute and record totals of transactions.
  • Count money in cash drawers at the beginning of shifts to ensure that amounts are correct and that there is adequate change.
  • Establish or identify prices of goods, services or admission, and tabulate bills using calculators, cash registers, or optical price scanners.
  • Issue receipts, refunds, credits, or change due to customers.
  • Maintain clean and orderly checkout areas.
  • Monitor checkout stations to ensure that they have adequate cash available and that they are staffed appropriately.
  • Process merchandise returns and exchanges.
  • Receive payment by cash, check, credit cards, vouchers, or automatic debits.
  • Request information or assistance using paging systems.
  • Resolve customer complaints.
  • Calculate total payments received during a time period, and reconcile this with total sales.
  • Keep periodic balance sheets of amounts and numbers of transactions.

A vacancy exists for a Domestic Water Treatment Channel Development Manager

The main purpose of the role is to develop and expand the existing distribution channels setup, increase product visibility, develop and maximise the sales potential of D&S Domestic Water Treatment Products in the region.

The main job tasks of the role are as follows:
  • Establish channel distribution lines for domestic water treatment products.
  • Develop new channel partners in existing and untapped markets.
  • Enhance market penetration and implement marketing strategies.
  • Monitor distribution activities against agreed goals.
  • Ensure good service and product delivery and address key accounts issues.
  • Liase between various internal D&S functions and the distribution teams.
  • Engage in promotional activities and explore retail market opportunities.
The successful candidate will likely have the following attributes:
  • Be a university Graduate with an upper second class honours degree.
  • Be less than 35 years of age.
  • At least 3 years sales experience preferably in Water Treatment Products.
  • Have a strong communication, negotiation & presentation skills.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Basic computer skills including MS Word and Excel.
  • Have a driving licence.

The Macroeconomic and Financial Management Institute of Eastern and Southern Africa (MEFMI) is a regionally owned institute with 13 Member Countries, currently: Angola, Botswana, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Rwanda, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Assistant Accountant

Reporting to the Accountant, the Assistant Accountant will carry out among others the following duties:
  • Keeping track of funds received from Cooperating Partners and Member Countries
  • Maintaining special accounts for Cooperating Partners
  • Preparing financial statements for special accounts
  • Ensuring statements of expenditure for activities are correct and captured in the accounting system
  • Following up hotels and members of staff on outstanding balances from activities
  • Quarterly compilation of in-kind contributions, capturing and confirming with Member Countries
  • Maintaining the accounts receivable ledger for staff advances
  • Receiving inventory into stores
  • Preparing monthly bank reconciliation statements
  • Liaising with banks on outstanding transactions
  • Assisting the Accountant in posting all captured and approved transactions
  • Maintaining the fuel account
  • Providing information as requested by auditors during the audit period
Requirements
  • At least a first degree in Accounting or equivalent accounting qualification.
  • A professional accounting qualification will be an added advantage
  • At least five (5) years relevant experience
  • At least five (5) years hands on experience with a computerised accounting system. Experience with
  • Pastel will be an added advantage
  • Hands on experience with word and excel
  • Not more than 35 years old

Regional Finance Officer (RFO):
  • The RFO is responsible for Africa region’s financial management including reporting of all financial transactions to headquarters; 
  • supervises two staff; 
  • works closely with headquarters finance staff and staff of partner organizations.
Requirements:
  • Basic university degree with 6 years related experience or post-graduate degree with 3 years experience; 
  • certified public accountant (CPA), an ACCA or equivalent;

    superior knowledge of and proficiency in computerized accounting (e.g. Quick Books) and MS Office; 
  • ability to analyze financial data and prepare concise reports;

Requirements: 
  • Diploma in office administration or human resources or a related discipline with at least 3 years experience in a similar position or 6 years experience for a high school graduate;
