The job:
 

Taking lead in events is a critical function expected of the role. These include but are not limited to:

  • Exhibitions and fairs
  • Festivals
  • Conferences
  • Promotions
  • Fundraising and social events.

The role is heavy on: clear communication, excellent organisational skills and attention to detail. 

 

The candidate must work well under pressure, ensuring the smooth and efficient running of an event.
 

Typical activities include:

  • Researching markets to identify opportunities for events
  • Producing detailed proposals for events (e.g. Timelines, venues, suppliers, legal obligations, staffing and budgets)
  • Agreeing to and managing a budget
  • Securing and booking a suitable venue or locations
  • Coordinating suppliers, handling client queries and troubleshooting during events to ensure that all runs smoothly
  • Planning, developing and implementing pr strategies
  • Liaising with and answering enquiries from media, individuals and other organisations, often via telephone and email
  • Researching, writing and distributing press releases to targeted media
  • Collating and analysing media coverage
  • Writing and editing in-house magazines, case studies, speeches, articles and annual reports
  • Preparing and supervising the production of publicity brochures, handouts, direct mail leaflets, promotional videos, photographs, films and multimedia programmes
  • Maintaining and updating information in the public sphere: including online
  • Sourcing and managing speaking and sponsorship opportunities
  • Fostering community relations through events such as open days and through involvement in community initiatives
  • Managing the pr aspect of potential crisis situations.
  • Post-event evaluation

The person:

  • 3 years experience in a similar capacity/ field.
  • Minimum of a relevant university bachelor’s degree.
  • Excellent communication and 'people' skills
  • Good sales and negotiation skills

Outline of Role:

The Project Assistant will assist in the daily implementation of the PMNH+ Project in the Kitale office or in the field sites as needed. This position reports directly to the PMNH+ Project Director.

The four-year PMNH+ project seeks to improve maternal and neonatal health outcomes in Marakwet County by creating a comprehensive continuum of services from households to hospitals, through the establishment of 8 model facilities and 20 new teams of community health workers.  

 

PMNH+ will also generate evidence of the effectiveness of task shifting a package of MNC services to community health workers at the facility and community levels in improving MNH outcomes.

 Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Maintain accurate filing system of all project documents
  • Assist in coordination of logistics and procurement
  • Organize program events including launch, meetings, trainings
  • Regularly update list of PMNH+ resources (training manuals, CDs, reference materials)
  • Record and type meeting minutes in the field and office
  • Prepare project materials such as training certificates and IEC materials
  • Provide translation for non-Marakwet staff, when required
  • Assist in field visits and other program activities upon request of Program staff
  • Assist in arrangements for travel by field staff or visitors

Required Experience:

  • Certificate in a relevant health or development field
  • 2 years experience working for an international or Kenyan NGO
  • Prior experience working or living in Marakwet

Required Skills:

  • Demonstrated creativity and flexibility in problem-solving.
  • Ability to work independently
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Outlook required

  1. Provide strategic direction to the professional services division in line with the Institute’s strategic plan.
  2. To oversee the management of various departments falling in the professional services division and provide input to all matters relating to ICPAK membership in order to meet members’ needs
  3. Prepare reports to Chief Executive and Council regarding various programs in the professional division.
  4. Monitoring and evaluating performance of the division to ensure that performance standards and objectives for all heads of departments in the Division are met.
  5. In charge of the division’s budget by ensuring that departmental budgets are developed and submitted on time.
  6. Promote compliance with accounting and auditing standards
  7. Enhance members competencies by providing appropriate training programs

Experience: The ideal candidate will have:

  • Minimum Eight (8) years experience preferably in academia, research or public audit practice.
  • Well developed intellectual, analytical and diagnostic skills and have broad appreciation of theoretical and practical underpinnings of the accountancy and other related professions.
  • Ability to establish priorities, plan and encourage performance, coordinate and monitor work of others, delegate appropriate responsibility, be accountable and exercise decision-making appropriately.

Reporting to the Chief Executive, the incumbent shall provide Legal advisory and Company Secretarial services to the Institute.


Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure that the Institute complies with the Accountants Act, the Companies Act and any relevant laws and regulations associated with membership of regional and international organizations like IFAC, IASB and PAFA.
  2. Monitor the regulatory environment and its impact on the Institute and its members
  3. Carry out Company Secretarial activities.
  4. To formulate guidelines to enhance the integrity of the profession and ensure member compliance with laws regulations and standards
  5. Facilitate the Activities of the Disciplinary Committee to discharge its mandate including member investigations and discipline.
  6. Provide legal services to the Institute through

  • Drawing and reviewing of legal instruments such as contracts, leases and agreements between ICPAK’s Council and third parties
  • Monitoring and overseeing court cases filed against ICPAK and other disciplinary cases
  • Coordinate Institute’s conveyance transactions
  • Undertake research on legal matters on best practices from other Accountancy Institutes
  • Advise on legal arrangements between the Institute and various stakeholders including suppliers, service providers and creditors
  • Advice on changes required to the By-Laws of ICPAK to harmonise with existing laws and ethical codes.

Experience: The ideal candidate will have:

  • Minimum five (5) years senior management practical demonstrable experience in commercial law, company law, and financial services law
  • Sound knowledge of relevant government regulations and policies including the New Constitution of Kenya
  • Strong analytical and organization skills
  • Sound computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
