Nzoia Sugar Company Limited, a sugar manufacturing company situated in Western Kenya invites suitable candidates to fill the following position:

1.0 Chief Security Officer

The key purpose of the job is to ensure Security of persons and property of the company. The successful applicant for this position will report to the Company Secretary. This is a critical position in the company which requires one to demonstrate leadership qualities, maturity and ability to work under pressure.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Ensure that crimes are prevented.
  • Advising management on all security risks aimed at preventing crimes.
  • Collection of Security intelligence.
  • Ensure security records and exhibits are secure.
  • Ensure security investigation is done expeditiously.
  • Making appropriate reports to management.
  • Liaising with government security to prevent crime.
  • Reduce corruption through Zero tolerance and internal control.
Academic and Professional Qualifications
  • University Degree
  • Ex Police/ Chief Inspector or equivalent of the Armed Forces.
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Effective negotiation, Investigation, Supervisory and report writing skills.
  • Computer literate.
  • 5 years of relevant experience preferably in a busy set up.
  • Age: 30 to 49 years.
  • Establish and manage an effective security system for a commercial set up.
2.0 Systems Analyst

The Systems Analyst/Developer, will be responsible for the detailed analysis, design and development of in-house systems and Management Information Systems (M.I.S.). Additionally, this role will be required to maintain and support applications.

The successful person will report to the I.T Manager

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Guide the business in drawing report formats and advise on the best approach to automate these reports and returns.
  • Design and code reports/returns according to user specification with the key objective of delivering reports that will assist in decision making and control.
  • Develop and maintain documentation/manuals on system configuration or setup.
  • Carry out technical user training as required to enable users interpret the reports.
  • Assist in preparing system definition/specification by the users highlighting technical requirements.
  • Carry out analysis of the requirements and recommend solutions to address user requirements.
  • Design and code the system according to user specification.
  • Carry out technical user training in respect to these systems so that the business can utilise them.
  • Perform systems test to ensure functions/features are tested before acceptance and go live.
  • Make changes to system configuration and parameters to accommodate business and technological requirements.
  • Secure systems through adequate controls and monitor access and usage of programs.
  • Conducts detailed methods and systems surveys of various operations with a view to applying electronic data processing;
  • Develop proposed new applications and business processes.
  • Develops with user departments their electronic data processing requirements, workflow, training, etc. to implement proper procedures and systems;
  • Prepares process charts and analysis that reflect workflow, external verification and audit points and output requirements;
  • Develops procedure manuals of input preparation for electronic data processing system;
  • Assesses existing systems to increase efficiency and research available software products for use in automating recordkeeping, office functions, scheduling, etc.;
  • Proficiency in Syspro,Ebizframe and Payman will be of added advantage;
Academic and Professional Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, IT, Mathematics, Computer Studies or equivalent degree.
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Excellent knowledge of at least a major ERP, Oracle, Ebizframe and Syspro.
  • Dot Net development knowledge and experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in software development and proven record in a busy IT environment.
  • Must have designed systems or sub-systems which have been implemented successfully.
  • Excellent knowledge of database structures e.g. Oracle, MSSQL.
  • Ability to work through own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to tolerate stress and achieve objectives despite difficulties.
  • Age: 28 - 40 years
3.0 Network and Systems Administrator

The Network and Systems Administrator, will be responsible for the Administration and maintenance of the entire LAN/WAN and ERP systems access.

Additionally, this role will be required to maintain and support administrative applications. The successful person will report to the I.T Manager.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assisting in the planning, design, documentation and implementation of various systems including desktop PC’s, servers, network equipment and software applications
  • Developing, maintaining and monitoring procedures for all server backups both systems and databases.
  • Monitoring, planning and coordinating the distribution of client/ server software and service packs, antivirus systems.
  • Monitoring of LAN/WAN, Cisco switches and internet firewalls
  • Performing on-site and remote technical support
  • Plans, supervises and directs operations for computer networks;
  • Directs cabling, configuring and installing computer hardware, and computer networks and software for network and stand alone computers;
  • Makes recommendations to administrators regarding policies and standards for the computer and computer networks;
  • Arranges for the installation of administrative and instructional software on computer networks;
  • Analyzes organization needs and makes recommendations for improvements and enhancements;
  • Troubleshoots hardware and software conflicts and problems;
  • Provides on-site coordination and support for subcontractors;
  • Arranges for and coordinates all necessary maintenance services to all hardware and networks;
  • Plans and implements required configuration changes to local and wide area networks;
  • Installing and configuring servers and application software;
  • Backing up and restoring systems and users files;
Academic and Professional Qualifications
  • Be a holder of a Bachelors degree in IT or Computer Science
  • Possess at least MCSE and CCNP
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Experience with windows 2000/2003/2005 server platforms with an emphasis on Active Directory
  • Experience in setting up Microsoft Exchange Server, DHCP Server and SQL Server 2000-2008.
  • Solid knowledge of LAN/WAN and WIFI Configurations with experience in routers, switches, internet firewalls and wireless technology
  • Hardware and Software troubleshooting skills.
  • Minimum 4 years working experience in a busy IT environment with remote locations
  • Age: 28 - 35 years
