Concern Worldwide is a non-governmental, international, humanitarian organization dedicated to the reduction of suffering and working towards the ultimate elimination of extreme poverty in the world’s poorest countries.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced Kenya nationals for the following position:

Job Title:Communications & Documentation Officer
Based in: Nairobi, with frequent travel to project areas within Kenya
Contract Type: One year contract

Job Summary:

Concern is committed to its programmes are effective in order to have a positive impact on the lives of the poor.

The post holder will implement Concern’s communications strategy which is intended highlight the plight of poor people, showcase innovative approaches to poverty alleviation, and share information with stakeholders and programme participants.

The post holder will also ensure that lessons learned in all areas of Concern’s work are documented and shared widely.

Person specification:
  • Degree in journalism, communications, Public Relations or closely related field
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Kiswahili
  • At least two years of work experience in a communications or information role in the development or humanitarian sector
  • Experience in writing and disseminating information to a variety of audiences, including the general public, fundraising teams, websites and for technical audiences
  • Ability to understand and synthesise technical programme information for non-technical audiences
  • Experience in working with media (print, online, TV and radio)
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in Kenya and globally as well as Concern’s programme participants and partners
  • Proven experience of documenting lessons learned within an NGO
  • Ability to creatively communicate development and humanitarian issues
  • Networking and relationship building skills
