The Kenyan Civil Society Strengthening Program (KCSSP) is a grant-making and capacity-building program jointly implemented by Pact and ACT! Pact developed KCSSP in 2006 to strategically target those NGOS and other civil society actors with the greatest potential to build large constituencies for critical reforms needed in the democratic governance, conflict resolution and natural resource management (NRM) sectors.

KCSSP maintains data from activities reported by partner CSOs and has been implementing a database system that centralizes entry and access to this data by all program staff. 

This system facilitates timely provision of information for decision making and reporting to various identified audiences. As such, the information should conform to five key data quality criteria i.e. timeliness, validity, integrity, reliability and precision.

Purpose of the position
  • The Database operator will standardize and coordinate the entry of data and mining of information, as well as maintain database integrity primarily in the Pact/KCSSP database which requires a good working
  • knowledge of relational databases (SQL), and basic programming skills. 
  • In addition, he/she will provide
    primary desktop and software-related technical support for problem resolutions. 
  • He/she will provide backup support to the IT Officer with server administration, user account maintenance, network security, system documentation, and help-desk support functions; and participate in planning for future upgrades and technology enhancements.
