Position: Quality Assurance Manager

Gross Salary: 160k-200k

Reports to: Head of Operations

Department: Operations

Location: Kenya

The purpose of this job is to manage the Quality Assurance department for the company , develop and monitor the implementation of quality processes and procedures to ensure business growth by providing high quality products that meet customer requirements.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Plan the activities of the QA function and ensure resources are properly utilized in line with business needs in order to achieve department objectives against plan.
• Develop and manage the implementation of procedures for measuring equipment and instruments to allow correct assessment of product quality parameters.
• Coordinate and manage product trials with the Production Manager prior to commercial production runs in order to ensure best quality products which will meet customer requirements at all times.
• Manage the performance of QA staff to ensure their performance is aligned with business needs.
• Develop and conduct training for the QA team members to ensure a well trained team who meet their performance objectives

• Define raw material categories and liaise with relevant government bodies to ensure compliance of government legal regulations with respect to environment and material safety.
• Manage and oversee attention to customer complaints in order to ensure these are effectively dealt with, to the satisfaction of the customer concerned
• Plan & Strict compliance of B to B customers products & manufacturing practice standards requirement

The above roles and responsibility will be an effort directed towards meeting the following challenges

• Dealing with  a number of product type requiring different test procedures and the monitoring of the same.
• Sampling procedures that are not easy to follow due to big numbers of products, product types and frequency.
• Continual training which does not give desired results
• Attracting, retaining and developing highly skilled QA Staff.
• Identifying and contributing to opportunities for continous improvement
• Adhering to audit standards of B to B customer

Requirements

• The suitable candidate should have a Degree or Diploma in Plastics Engineering or equivalent qualification
• 5 years in Plastics processing industry out of which 3 years in managerial position. Should be conversant with ISO 9000, ISO 22000, HACCP & FSSC standards.
• Excellent Technical skills
• Good numerical skills and understanding of statistics
• Ability to deal with complexity
• Good communication and people skills
• Ability to reason logically with evidence
• Ability to address issues with systematic process approach and Logical reasoning
• Good problem-solving skills
• Good IT, Budget and report writing skills
• Good data and information analytical skills
