Vacancy Announcement: Programme Officer, Agribusiness
 
Background: The African Agricultural Technology Foundation (AATF) is a not-for-profit organization designed to facilitate and promote access and delivery of appropriate proprietary agricultural technologies for use by resource-poor smallholder farmers in Sub-Saharan Africa. 

Based in Nairobi, but working across the continent, AATF fosters its mission through public / private partnerships to reach its target farmers. 

The Foundation is a one-stop-shop that provides expertise and know-how that facilitates the identification, access, development, delivery and utilization of proprietary agricultural technologies.

To accomplish specific tasks as it implements its portfolio, AATF is looking for a qualified and experienced Programme Officer, Agribusiness. 

Under the direct supervision of the Business Development Manager, the Programme Officer is responsible for providing and supporting innovative business solutions in the AATF business processes through assisting in coming up with feasibility and baseline studies, impact assessments, deployment and commercialization of agricultural technologies, value chain analysis and creating market linkages across AATF projects.
 
Terms of Reference:
  • Ensures coordination and implementation of business development activities, and action plans.
  • Support the Business Development Manager in conducting baseline and feasibility studies, and drafting concept notes, business plans and impact assessment for all AATF projects.
  • Coordinate implementation of project business activities to ensure attainment of set milestones
  • Assist in identification of training needs and in organizing agribusiness training for project partners as deemed appropriate
  • Assist in the creation of market access and linkages
  • Contribute in the design of strategies to strengthen the linkages between farmers’ associations, the private sector, government and civil society organizations to ensure uptake of products from AATF projects a Assist in project coordination and management
  • Provide administrative and technical supportfor any assignments required by the BDM and other TOD managers
The ideal candidate should possess a Master’s Degree or equivalent in Economics, Agricultural Economics, Business, Agribusiness or related field. 

She/ he should have at least 3 years of relevant experience at the national or international level in providing business and management development services, hands-on experience in design of development projects. 

Work experience in in Agriculture will be an advantage. 

Experience in the usage of computers, office software packages, and experience in handling of web based management systems.

This is a Nationally Recruited Staff (NRS) position based in Nairobi and is on a 2-year renewable contract subject to individual performance and availability of funds. Salary and benefits will be in line with those provided within AATF’s NRS scheme.
