Introduction: Transparency and Accountability Habitat for Information and Communication (Tachicom-Kenya) was established to provide consultancy and technical assistance on Information / Knowledge, Communication and Information Technology management for transparency and accountability initiatives. 

Our mandate is to work with institutions and citizens in provision of information and communication solutions that promote transparency and accountability.
 
The Resource Mobilization Officer will, under the supervision of the Managing Director, be responsible for ensuring well informed strategies are conducted to support fundraising for all Tachicom-Kenya work.
 

The post holder will be responsible for discussions; negotiations and agreement with Tachicom-Kenya clients and partners on the organizations strategic and operational objectives. 

This will include negotiations on levels of funding, preparation and agreement of business plans, proposals, priorities and targets.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Collect relevant information for the development of concept notes and the programme proposals as per the guidelines of various calls for proposals, to expand the base of programme in line with the strategic plan, nationally and internationally;
  • Develop database of potential donors and initiate contact development;
  • Initiate innovative events, strategies, ideas for fundraising;
  • Offer support in strengthening relationship with existing donors by providing them strategic updates;
  • Identify Tachicom Kenya’s institutional and programmatic resource gaps;
  • Develop a fundraising plan with specific time frames;
  • Develop tools for monitoring and evaluation that will accompany the fundraising strategy;
  • Coordinate and facilitate engagement of Technical Support in all areas when required;
  • Conduct regular trainings and mentoring of relevant Tachicom Kenya’s staff in the preparation of funding proposals;
  • Assist in the preparation of reports that show the results achieved by the Tachicom-Kenya and its value added;
  • Help preparing and participate in internal/external meetings, including Annual Review Meetings with multi-bilateral donors, thematic meetings and resource mobilization events;
  • Support the facilitation of the negotiation and signing of new funding agreements;
Required Skills and Experience:-
 
Academic qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business related course / Social Sciences / Communication / Development or any other related field from a reputed institute.
Essential
  • Relevant experience in resource mobilization and fundraising a must,
  • Experience writing funding concept papers, proposals and reports,
  • Strong understanding of organizational development, strategic and operational planning,
Desirable
  • Commitment to team work,
  • Knowledge of creating and maintaining a contact management database,
  • Strong networking and communication skills; able to build rapport with individuals and groups,
  • Excellent public speaking and engagement skills,
  • Ability to set high standards for quality of work and consistently achieve project goals,
  • Ability to negotiate effectively by exploring a range of possibilities,
  • Creative thinker who can seek and propose opportunities for advancing Tachicom-Kenya’s mission.
Experience:
  • Minimum two years` experience in institutional fundraising with reputed donor organizations, multilateral and bilateral agencies;
  • Proven track record of translating programme experience into resource mobilization.
N/B: Compensation Offered: Compensation offered for the position is commission based.
