Job Title: Construction Project Manager

Liaising with (Departments): Investment Strategy and Economics / Finance
 
Job Summary: The incumbent of position is responsible for on-time and on-budget completion of major construction projects.  The project manager will be responsible for multiple concurrent projects throughout the full life-cycle from initiation through completion and handover to operations.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities
  • Full responsibility for managing multiple simultaneous projects in multiple locations at various stages of conception, design and build. 
  • Hands-on, onsite management of general construction and supervision of hired contractors required to complete project activities.
  • Participate in the multi-year strategic planning process for construction projects.  Suggests schedules, budgets and scopes changes to proposed major projects to remove constraints and increase the likelihood of on-time and on-budget completion.
  • Responsible for managing contractor safety programs on construction projects.  Works with Environmental Manager and Safety Manager to ensure environmental compliance conforms to safety regulations during design and build phases.
  • Provides presentations as well as comprehensive written project status reports to project stakeholders, sponsors and senior management.
  • Review assigned projects to establish critical path milestones, action plans, and schedules.
  • Confirm the accuracy of and the scope of new work.
  • Monitor contractor performance; insure adherence to terms and conditions of agreements.
  • Performs other responsibilities as assigned or directed.

Job Specifications.
  • Knowledge of project management
  • Proficiency in the use of computers for:
  1. Microsoft project planning
  2. Word processing, Simple accounting, Data base management and Spreadsheets.

Experience: 2 to 3 years Construction project management experience, having handled projects from start to finish

A membership to a professional association would be an added advantage.

Education
  • University Degree in a related subject.
  • PRINCE 2 or other professional qualification would be an added advantage.
  • Excellent skills in use of Microsoft Project
