Based in Dagahaley Refugee Camp

The selected candidate will be reporting to the Logistics team leader and he/she will be responsible for overseeing MSF Logistics activities in the Dagahaley refugee camp.

Main Tasks include, but not limited to:
  • Ensure the proper use, monitoring and maintenance of infrastructures, installations and equipment in the MSF compound, according to MSF CH standards
  • Ensure the check up, follow-up, and filing of administrative documents (internal request, fuel follow-up, etc), under the line manager supervision
  • Supervise his/her team making sure that everyone complies with his/her job description, in good working conditions: 2 radio operators, 6 drivers, 1 maintenance worker, 1 head watchman, 44 watchmen, 2 helpers
  • Ensure that a fleet of vehicles that meets the needs of the Project in terms of size and quality is maintained; propose any necessary changes to the line manager
  • Immediately inform the line manager and or technical adviser of information that has or could have an impact on the security of MSF staff and /or properties
Requirements:
  • Secondary education and basic training in a technical area (carpentry, electricity, mechanics, watsan, etc.)
  • 1 year experience in the Logistics Dpt. is an asset.
  • At least 2 years in a similar post in a humanitarian organization.
  • Previous MSF or NGO experience an advantage
  • Somali speaking an advantage.

Function: Maternity Supervisor

Direct supervisor: Head Nurse

Responsibilities for:
  • The quality of care and hygienic procedures in the maternity ward
  • Ensure all medical procedures are carried out correctly
  • Proper running of the maternity labour ward
  • Punctuality of all staff and report to the direct supervisor incase of problems
  • Adequate amount of medication and material in the ward at all times
  • The MOs and Cos are informed in time in case of need
  • Proper record of the activities done
  • Waste management after each procedure
  • Organising regular meeting and training for the nursing staff
  • Carrying out nursing care when required

Background

The Agro Pastoral project is implemented by the Ministry of Livestock Development. The overall goal of the project is to ensure that sustainable land management provides a basis for economic development, food security and sustainable livelihoods while restoring the ecological integrity in the Arid and Semi-arid lands.

This will be realised through the provision of knowledge, finance incentives and requisite institutional capacity of managers and agro pastoral land users for adoption of sustainable land management.

  1. All citizens, particularly the poor, with the opportunity to access and beneficially occupy and use land;

Project Manager

The project manager will manage the realization of project outputs through planned activities. In doing so, s / he will:

The Organization

Handicap International is an INGO specialising in the field of disability and development. A strong emphasis is placed on empowering people with disabilities through their integration into mainstream development activities and the provision of appropriate health and rehabilitation services to ensure equal opportunities for all.

The rehabilitation project in Dadaab aims to provide and secure tangible and measurable improvement of independency in activities of daily living and quality of life of refugees living with physical impairment or disability.

The Position

The “Mid-level Therapist and Rehabilitation Trainer” empowers incentive refugees involved in the physical therapy (mid-level therapists and partly CBR workers) and implements related “task cards” (activities) captured in the Project Implementation & Monitoring Tool (PIMT).

S/he will be responsible for
  • Empowering and mentoring 12 incentive refugees mid-level therapists and 3 physical rehabilitation supervisors to deliver and follow up quality physical rehabilitation therapy services.
  1. Develop TOR, curriculum, training material and monitoring tool for mid-level therapists in different areas of rehabilitation
  • Contributing to the capacity building and sensitization of all incentive refugees, community based rehabilitation committees and community leaders in the field of disability and rehabilitation.
  • Enhancing/strengthening/ensuring the autonomy of daily management of the disability centers and the provision of quality rehabilitation services
  • Capitalization and Documentation
  1. In coordination with the Rehabilitation Technical Coordinator in Nairobi, ensure sustained liaison with physical rehabilitation stakeholders and services providers of interest, while maintaining close links with the Ministry of Health (Physiotherapy and occupational therapist chief) regarding the issues of physiotherapy occupational therapy and physical rehabilitation in the camps of Dadaab and in Kenya.
  2. Compile and analyze lessons learned during the project and develop capitalization document on delivery of rehabilitation services to people with disability living in refugee context.
Qualifications and skills required:

  • Bachelor (Masters being preferred) in Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy

  • 5 years clinical experience in physical rehab department
  • Experience in training, transferring skills and knowledge and mentoring rehabilitation practices.
