Marketing Manager Job in Kenya – Ksh. 200,000

Position Required: Marketing Manager

Reporting to: Managing Director

Location: Nairobi

Job Purpose

To promote company visibility and awareness through effectively marketing products and services

Key Responsibilities:

· Responsible for the design and execution of marketing strategies, policies and programs for company products to further company’s sales objectives.

· Participate in the development and implementation of the brand strategy to raise brand awareness, visibility and positioning hence increasing product/service value in the market.

· Oversees & co-ordinates the planning, development and execution of “THE CLIENT”’s advertising campaigns to improve product visibility.

· Develops and revises marketing plans through analyzing customer preferences, trends, profiles and identifying factors that influence or determine customer behavior in order to advise management on marketing trends and issues.

· Co-ordinate market research studies to determine potential sales of a product or service. Analyses sales coverage, market size, competitors, penetration and product preferences.

· Preparation, monitoring and reporting the Marketing budget.

· Ensure that the Company’s official website is effectively used as a marketing tool to reach potential customers and reflects “THE CLIENT”’s current products and services.

Key Qualifications:

· Degree in Marketing or any other Business related discipline

· Five years experience in Marketing or related role

· At least three years management experience in a commercial business setting not FMCG

· Good Communication & Interpersonal Skills

· Individual must be creative, innovative and be able to translate statistical data into creative marketing strategies that are trackable.

Salary & Benefits: Kshs. 200,000+

International Potato Center Project Manager Job

The International Potato Center (CIP) is seeking to recruit an accomplished project manager with excellent skills in planning, human resource management, and resource mobilization for a new 3 year effort focused on capacity strengthening of African advocates and resource mobilization for massive investment in the dissemination of pro-vitamin A rich orange-fleshed sweetpotato in 5 target countries.

The Center: CIP is a not-for-profit international agricultural research-for-development organization with a focus on potato, sweetpotato, and Andean roots and tubers.

The position:

The Sweetpotato for Profit and Health Initiative, launched by CIP and over 26 partners in October 2009, has an ambitious goal of improving the lives of at least 10 million African households by 2020 through the effective production and expanded use of sweetpotato.

Evidence has clearly demonstrated that orange-fleshed sweetpotato varieties are an excellent source of pro-vitamin A -- an essential vitamin for health.

Building a cadre of trained African champions for utilizing orange-fleshed sweetpotato as an entry point for tackling widespread vitamin A deficiency and a cadre of trained development agents to successfully promote and disseminate these materials is at the core of this effort.

The project manager is expected to provide the leadership, administrative and key resource mobilization skills to ensure that significant funds are raised and appropriate country specific strategies are in place for this to happen in Tanzania, Mozambique, Nigeria, Burkina Faso and Ghana.

Duties and Accountabilities:

· Provide overall vision and direction for the 3 year program including the regional and country level teams

· Build, support and maintain active networks and links with relevant African institutions, leaders and donors engaged in agriculture, nutrition and social policy.

· Manage the program day-to-day, including sub-grants and partnerships, to support capacity strengthening, fundraising and advocacy.

· Actively support training, gender, and advocacy specialists to develop strategies that will engage partners and strengthen technical capacity, build focused resource mobilization and advocacy skills in promoting orange-fleshed sweetpotato projects within national nutrition and/or income enhancement goals.

· Backstop country level teams in resource mobilization

· Promote the integration of orange-fleshed sweetpotato into national and regional programs, projects, and data collection systems at various fora and in the media

· Assure timely reporting and milestone compliance

The position will be based at CIP’s Regional Office in Nairobi, Kenya, with frequent travel within Sub-Saharan Africa

Selection Criteria:

· PhD in agricultural sciences, social sciences, or nutrition with at least 10 years of experience in project management;

· Experience in managing multi-disciplinary teams and partnerships;

· Demonstrated success in policy development, resource mobilization and partnership building

· Strong communication and writing skills and ability to develop a close and effective working relationship with a variety of stakeholders such as policy makers, NGOs, researchers, regional networks, and farmer organizations

· Prior experience with and engagement in agriculture and or nutrition policy development in the SSA region

· Fluency in English is required and knowledge of French or Portuguese and Kiswahili is desired

· Must be a citizen of a Sub-Saharan African country

· Willingness to travel extensively

Conditions: The position will be based in Nairobi, Kenya.

Employment contract will be for a three-year term with a three month probation period.

Salary will be regionally competitive, paid in US dollars, and commensurate with experience.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required for this position.

Quality Maintenance Engineer

Scope of the job

The holder of this position, who will report to the Quality Assurance Manager, will champion quality maintenance and improvement within the production process, ensuring that production is done according to specification and anomalies are tackled by using World Class Manufacturing (WCM) approach and methodologies.

He will be a member of Quality Management (QM) pillar and will be responsible for claim, defect waste and Sigma Index.

Roles and Responsibilities;

· Monitor the effectiveness of quality inspection and maintenance systems at the printer

· Ensure that the barrier systems at the printer are functioning properly

· Analyze, deploy and report total waste data on a daily basis and following up on any significant defect waste

· Ensure that actions arising from defect waste analysis are implemented

· Drive internal and external customer claims analysis and resolution

· Monitor quality of raw materials used in production & ensure that they meet Tetra Pak’s specifications

· In charge of claims or complaints process against suppliers for non- conforming raw materials

· Lead, support, coach or participate in World Class Manufacturing teams in the factory

· Organizing and conducting training for printer cell members on any quality aspects

· Project management

· Manage; calibrate laboratory equipment & process aides ensuring that their working status is kept up to date

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science & Technology or Process Engineering

· Extensive knowledge of Quality tools and Statistical Process Control (SPC)

· Experience in a Manufacturing field will be an added advantage

· Computer Knowledge with practical use of MS Word, MS PowerPoint and Excel
