A Building and Construction firm wishes to recruit a qualified dedicated Quantity Surveyor to join their team. 

This position will be based in the Nairobi region.

Duties & Responsibilities include:
  • Pricing and estimating contracts (including administration cost estimates)
  • Tendering
  • Quantity Take-Offs together with preparation of schedule materials
  • Re-measurements
  • Preparation of contractual claims (arising and interim valuations) and final accounts.
  • Supervision of sub-contractors
  • Liaise with clients, councils and consultants for contract issues
  • Contracts administration
  • Progress monitoring
  • Adhere to all QSHE procedures, policies and instructions
  • Any other duties that may be assigned to you from time to time
Minimum Academic & Professional requirements:
  • Applicant MUST be a holder of a Diploma in Building / Civil (Quantity Surveying)
  • 2 to 3 years exp in the same capacity
  • Registered by the Board of registration of Architects and Quantity Surveyors (BORAQS)
  • Computer literate and competent in MS Excel and MS Word, hands on experience in Auto Cad
  • Analytical, Good Communication, and Teamwork Skills

Background Information
 
The Catholic Diocese of Isiolo (Caritas Isiolo) received a grant from the EU through CAFOD to implement Community Based Green Energy Project in Isiolo Diocese.
 
The overall objective of the project is to increase access to modern, affordable and sustainable energy services for community institutions in rural and peri-urban areas in the Diocese.

The Diocese is seeking to recruit qualified experienced persons to fill the above position.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • To provide lead in CB-GEP activity implementation
  • To prepare and review project activity and budget plans and ensure efficient budget monitoring
  • To prepare project progress and financial reports in consultation with the Accountant and Development Coordinator
  • To visit and monitor project activities, facilitate information sharing with target communities and provide technical support to staff local communities
  • To facilitate the recruitment of ICT volunteers in liaison with Diocesan management and partners
  • To work with the community Mobilizer in mobilizing and sensitizing target communities to effectively participate in project activities through sharing project goals, objectives and activities
  • To facilitate easy access of Solar Works technical staff to communities for efficient and successful installation of the solar systems and the training of local artisans and technicians
  • Ensure visibility of project activities is undertaken
Qualifications, Experience, Skills and Attributes required
  • Must have at least a Degree Science in an Energy related field with a bias to project planning and management or in any other related discipline. A Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering will also be considered
  • Must have strong Project Cycle Management skills
  • Should have skills in renewable energy
  • Experience in working with pastoralist communities
  • Other related short courses such as community development be an added advantage
  • Must have experience of at least 2 years in project planning and implementation
  • Ability to make sound and timely judgments
  • Strong intellectual, analytical and decision making ability
  • Must be computer literate, conversant with operations software
  • Should have good writing and communication skills
  • Must be articulate in the understanding of the Social Teachings of the Catholic Church
  • Organized, motivated and work well alone as well as with a team

The Catholic Diocese of Isiolo is seeking to recruit a qualified and experienced person to fill the position of the Diocesan Development Coordinator

The post holder will report to the Diocesan Administrator / the Vicar General.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Overall development, management and coordination of the Diocesan development and humanitarian programmes in line with Strategic Plan and approved proposals and budgets.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with development partners ensuring strict compliance with Diocesan and donor policies and standards and procurement procedures.
  • Initiate the appraisal and funding of new programmes of work in line with Diocesan strategic priorities.
  • Ensure that Diocesan and donor funds are used in the most effective way, demonstrating good stewardship of resources and compliance with Diocesan and donor policies and procedures including procurement procedures.
  • Lead and manage programme staff; including appropriate capacity building and systematic empowerment according to Diocesan management standards and staff policies, so that staff the effectiveness of the team is achieved.
  • Ensure that the Diocesan Management Board is apprised of all activities designated to Development Office.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of a Degree in social science or related field. MA degree shall be an added advantage.
  • At least 5 years of experience with three of those in a team management role.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Strength in managing, developing, coaching and retaining individuals.
  • Deep understanding of human resources, employee performance, improvement plans and corrective action policies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with exceptional attention to details.
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility and a commitment to and passion for service to the poorest people.
  • Ability to make sound and timely judgments.
