Country Manager

Job Summary:

To develop the organisation’s business in the country by tailoring the company’s strategy, lead the team in the country and mobilise internal and external parties towards the goals while translating the global vision into local specific culture & demand.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Relationship with local authorities, health community. Monitors the relations, build a strong relationship to solve problems, to seize opportunities and to strengthen the links with the company
  • Relationship with our shareholders. Monitors the relations, to build a strong relationship to solve problems, to seize opportunities and to strengthen the links with the company
  • Relationship with customers/partners, local teams and back up team. Monitors the relations with customers, visit the buyers from key clients in order to negotiate, solve problems, seize opportunities and strengthen the links with the company
  • High understanding & appreciation to local culture as to be able to tailor global vision to fit the territory.
  • Create an efficient, professional & aggressive work environment able to deliver sales growth & results within specific time frame.
  • Contribute to the definition and implementation of the overall vision, mission and strategies in Africa
  • In line with the overall strategies, define, together with the ESA team the long-term (5 years) commercial strategy
  • Translate the agreed commercial strategy into concrete short-term (1/2 years) operational plans and budgets
  • Ensure the right execution of the key activities including all processes associated with the positioning and sale of products to our key channels (follow up competition, …): Marketing, Medical, Retail, Emerging Channels, Trade Marketing, Sales Planning and Category Management
  • Ensure an excellent communication with the other (directors of) departments, in order to optimise the information flow and the decision making process and in order to take advantage of possible synergies
  • Optimize on a continuous basis the key sales processes and the organizational structure in order to maximize its effectiveness and efficiency
  • P&L responsibility in the country
  • Manage and develop team members
Education:
  • Holder of a Bachelor degree (Master is a plus) or equivalent in English system from a reputable university.
Relevant Work Experience: At least 5-10 years of managerial experience in a similar field.

Medical Supervisor

Purpose of the Job
  • Secure roll out of the Medical strategic plan in Kenya.
  • Facilitate the communication of the organization’s product via medical channels and ultimately to consumers.
  • Play a leading role in fulfilling the strategic objective of making the organization’s product a leader in the Kenyan Market.
  • Drive the medical agenda in Kenya and report the progress.
  • Coordinate with the medical director in Nairobi on proper product propositions and to relate medical priorities in supporting business objectives.
  • Achieve excellence in execution in the medical channel.
  • Lead, manage, train and improve a team of medical representatives in Kenya to cover the relevant Health Care Professionals across the country
Key Result Areas

Team Management
  • Recruit, support, manage and develop a team of medical representatives in Kenya
  • Secure roll out of medical training & reporting programmes in Kenya
  • Regular on the job training/auditing of Medical Representatives on medical message delivery, medical knowledge and detailing strategy
  • Secure succession planning of own role and within the Medical team
Resource Management & Reporting
  • Align with medical director on allocation of resources in Kenya
  • Manage the medical budget and spends in the market
  • Secure harmonized monitoring and reporting of Medical Sales KPI’s
Contribution to Strategy
  • Execute the medical marketing plan in Kenya
  • Secure market relevant information is escalated to enable relevant product development
  • Responsible for escalating required supporting tools and proper usage of all medical materials
  • Play a pivotal role in advising management team on competitor issues (new introductions etc)
KOL Management
  • Create and participate actively in relevant congresses, seminars and symposia
  • Lobby with and influence key opinion leaders on product related scientific issues
  • Establish strong relationship with the paediatric and government organizations in Kenya
  • Maintain and establish key relationships
Regulatory Affairs
  • Responsible for timely and accurate registration of our products in Kenya and ensuring the relevant support from within the organizations of distributor
  • Ensure compliance of our products with local regulations
  • Ensure WHO code compliance of all medical activities
  • Establish and maintain relevant external relationships with local regulatory bodies
Qualifications
  • Degree in medicine / nutrition
  • Minimum 3 years experience in management role
  • Intensive travel required, mainly within Kenya

Job Title: Program Officer – Global Child Health Now Campaign

Country: Kenya

Location: Nairobi

Closing Date: January 04 2012

Purpose of the position:

To lead in the delivery of the Child Health Now campaign at the national level. The Manager will liaise, support, and work closely with colleagues involved on the issue of health and community empowerment nationally.

The campaign manager will coordinate the institutional response of the NO on health before key audiences and decision makers. The manager will leverage World Vision's institutional expertise, nationally and internationally to influence the national government's response on health.

This post will link in with WVI’s Global Health campaign team who ultimately seek to:
  • Lead WVI’s global advocacy;
  • Build WVI as a Global Advocacy Force;
  • Support programme learning and development;
  • Help develop WVI’s policy on what we do and say to ensure policies are informed by our experience. The team’s purpose is to campaign for health for children in poor and marginalized communities with National and Support Offices.
  • In addition this position will play a key role in the team delivering campaigning on children’s health with the WV partnership.
The position will sit in the World Vision Kenya Policy and Advocacy Unit.

Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience (E=Essential & D – Desirable)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, with at least 5 years experience in campaigning, advocacy, lobbying and communications;
  • Masters Degree added advantage
  • Experience of developing this capacity in other people
  • Strategic, creative, and innovative thinking
  • A successful track record in coordinating / managing advocacy campaigns

  • Strong project management experience
  • Experience of working with government
  • Preferred experience and Knowledge
  • Experience engaging decision makers in government
  • Practical advocacy and campaigning experience in the development field
