A real estate development company that was established in 2006. They develop exclusive (residential) real estates. The company is currently looking for a Construction Manager.

The main focus of the Construction Manager (“CM”) will be to supervise the construction of Mandharini, a large resort in Kilifi Kenya. Mandharini will be built by a Contractor. The CM will oversee the construction process and will be our eyes and ears on the site.

The CM responsibilities will span a broad spectrum covering all aspects that involve the construction of Mandharini. The CM will be based in Kilifi and will report to the Directors. The CM job is a high pressure job as the CM is accountable for completion of projects in specified time without crossing the budgetary limits.

Job Responsibilities

The Construction manager will be responsible for:
  • Overseeing the construction project from start to finish in all its aspects
  • Ensuring that construction activities are completed according to schedule
  • Quality management
  • Cost management
  • Contract administration
  • Serving as the key link between HP and the contractor
  • Coordinating the efforts of HP, the contractor and the project advisors
  • Providing periodical status reports to the Directors detailing the progress of the project in all its aspects
  • Ensuring all project documents are complete and update when needed
  • Identifying the elements of project design and construction likely to give rise to disputes and claims
  • Developing of effective communication mechanisms and mechanisms for resolving conflicts between the various participants
  • Managing an assistant.
Job Experience, Knowledge and skills required:
  • A construction related (bachelors) degree. A post graduate degree in construction management is an added advantage
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in large scale construction projects
  • Knowledge of legal issues regarding the construction contract
  • Experience in the cost management (Quantity Surveying) aspects of a construction project
  • Excellent skills in MS Word, Excel and extensive experience in reading construction drawings and Bills of Quantity.

  • Analytical personality with logical decision making abilities
  • Strong focus on quality and detail
  • Capacity to handle pressure
  • Willingness to live in Kilifi and travel as requested
