Institutional Funding Officer - Somalia

Fulltime position

Based in Nairobi, Kenya

Purpose of the job

To identify and develop new sources of income in order to maximize external funding for programmers, by applying a strong entrepreneurial approach to spotting and maximizing funding opportunities for the region, through targeted donor relation building and through cooperation with ON HQ Marketing and Fundraising Unit.

Required knowledge
  • Completed an academic degree relevant to the position preferably in Economics.
  • Experience in organizational analysis & partnership, grant management & project management.
  • Ability to set measurable deadlines and standards, and monitors progress of the results
  • Able argue from the interest of Oxfam Novib to reach creative solutions and agreements with donors and others.
  • Act proactive in a complex international environment, where there is a case of political economic interest, contradictions, cultural differences, and strategic or policy decisions.
  • Encourages others to express ideas and convert them into constructive contributions but maintains a right balance between understanding and acceptance.
  • Ability to take into account the different opinions, (cultural) backgrounds and interest when underpinning own opinion.
  • At least 5 year experience in the relevant field.
  • Excellent social skills and a team-player.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral in English.
  • Knowledge of Somalia context is an asset and willingness to travel to Somalia.
