Honey Care Africa, a high - growth social enterprise based in Nairobi, is recruiting a Director of Sales.

The Director of Sales will manage and grow an effective sales organization to sell the Company’s agricultural services to smallholder farmers, NGOs, and commercial farms throughout rural East Africa.

This position will be responsible for managing a constrained budget, rolling forecasts, and sales reporting.

You will expand company market share in existing markets, while developing new markets. This position reports to the Head of Operations.

Responsibilities:
  • Direct responsibility for aggressive revenue growth and profitability targets.
  • Manage the company’s primary sales channels including commercial farms, NGOs, microfinance organizations, and smallholder farmer organizations.
  • Recruit, hire, and train a field sales force of Direct Sales Officers who will be the face of Honey Care Africa in rural areas and manage relationships with individual farmers.
  • Manage a compensation plan for the group of Direct Sales Officers, including salary structures, commission plans, sales contests, and bonus plans.
  • Implement an effective sales/contact management application such as SalesForce.com.
  • Produce rolling sales forecasts and budgets, and detailed monthly sales reports, and manage monthly, quarterly, and annual sales objectives for all field sales personnel.
Requirements:
  • Focus on results.
  • At least 5 years successful sales experience, including a minimum of 2 years in senior management role. Sales management experience includes managing a team of field sales representatives with responsibility for rural territories.
  • At least 2 years experience selling agricultural products in rural African environments.
  • Demonstrated success with full-cycle sales.
  • Successful history of sales with commercial farms, NGOs, or farmer groups.
  • Previous experience using a sales/contact management system, such as SalesForce.com.
  • Ability to plan and manage at both strategic and operational levels.
  • Proven track record of consistently achieving aggressive revenue targets.
  • Willing to work long hours, travel extensively, and spend significant amounts of time in rural areas with regional sales personnel.
  • Professional written & verbal communication skills; strong interpersonal skills.
  • An advanced degree in communications, marketing, or business is preferred.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership skills, integrity, work ethic, and dependability.
