Financial Accountant 

The Agricultural Sector Coordination Unit (ASCU) is an inter-ministerial Secretariat to the Agricultural and Rural Development Sector Ministries. 

It spearheads, coordinates and facilitates the implementation of the Agricultural Sector strategies. 

ASCU now seeks to recruit a dynamic, well exposed and competent candidate to fill the above position.
 
Duties and responsibilities
 
Reporting to the ASCU Coordinator, the Financial Accountant will be responsible for the financial accounting of ASCU. 

He will be responsible for processing payments and accounting entries, assist in budgeting, cost management, and financial reporting.
  • Upholding appropriate financial systems and internal controls and procedures on all financial operations
  • Process payments in accordance with Government and Development Partners’ regulations.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial accounts and reports
  • Preparing for audits, planning and implementing and responding to audit findings and recommendations
  • Maintain an effective and efficient record keeping system for financial records and information.
  • Maintain an effective imprest system and follow up in line with the financial manual.
  • Assist in preparation of budgets, management reporting and liaison with Ministries in respect of MTEF activities.
8. Any other duties that may be assigned by the ASCU Coordinator.
Minimum Requirements
  • At least a minimum CPA (part II) qualification and preferable with a relevant university degree.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in similar position preferable in a multi-donor programme environment.

  • Knowledge of GOK accounting systems and procedures
  • Ability to multi-task effectively.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and under pressure
  • Demonstrate professional ability, initiative and competence in organizing, guiding, and managing work.
  • Ability to deliver quality results and meet deadlines
  • High degree of honesty and integrity.
  • Self motivated, team player, flexible and adaptable
  • Good organizational and communication skills.
