KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation is one of the principal international non-profit organizations that is exclusively dedicated to and focused on fighting tuberculosis (TB) worldwide and to strengthening health systems against TB, globally and locally.

KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation is an international center of expertise for TB control that stimulates effective, efficient and sustainable tuberculosis control strategies in a national and international context. 

We are an organization of passionate TB professionals; this includes doctors, researchers, training experts, nurses and epidemiologists.

We aim to stop the spread of the worldwide epidemic of the second ‘killer’ infectious disease and to prevent the further spread of drug-resistant TB.

Over the past century we have built up a wealth of knowledge and expertise, initially by successfully driving back TB in the Netherlands. 

Since the 1970s we also share our knowledge and expertise with the rest of the world.

We operate from the central office in The Hague in the Netherlands, regional offices and additional country offices worldwide. 

KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation raises funds from private individuals, institutional funds and companies.

Purpose of the Position

KNCV is in the process of decentralizing core activities from the central office in The Hague to the regional office in Nairobi.

The Executive Regional Director is responsible for managing KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation engagement in the region.

Main Duties:
  • Direct and manage KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation engagement in the region.
  • Develop, implement, monitor and evaluate the technical and enabling strategic objectives for the region in a planning and control cycle.
  • Advice and support KNCV The Hague in developments in TB control at global level, based on the regional experiences.
  • Represent KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation in the region.
  • Coordinate and direct the work organization, including the country offices in the region.
  • Develop and implement the governance structure and management and control systems in the region within a centrally defined framework.
  • Develop and implements communication and acquisition plans in the region with the aim to create a financially selfsustainable regional office.
Required Qualifications:

Education:
  • Conceptual and strategic level of working and thinking (MSc or MA).
Knowledge
  • Knowledge of and international experience with public health and health services, preferably TB control.
  • Experienced in management in international organizations.
  • Experience in project/program management.
  • Experience in acquisition and networking.
Specific job qualities

  • Leadership qualities.
  • Fluent in written and oral English.
  • Excellent (intercultural) communication skills.
  • Didactic/training and personal relations skills.
