1. Procurement Officer

Reports to:
Head Procurement
 
Job Description:
  • Coordinating purchases.
  • Maintaining  purchase records
  • Co-ordinate the receiving and opening of quotations
  • Co-ordinate the evaluation of quotations
  • Preparation of quarterly returns of procurement purchases
  • Carrying out market research, price survey and vendor ratings
  • Monitoring the implementation of UNES Procurement Committee decisions
  • Following up receipts of goods delivered to the stores
  • Following up with suppliers on purchase of goods
  • Identifying surplus and obsolete stores and equipment for disposal
  • Custodian of GRN
Job Specification:
  • At least a  bachelors degree in Business Administration or equivalent plus at least 3 years relevant experience
  • A post – graduate qualification in purchasing and supply chain management from a recognized institution preferably from the chartered Institute of purchasing and supply
  • Working knowledge of Public Procurement and Disposal Act , 2005
  • Ability to work under pressure and
  • Good interpersonal and analytical skills
2. Consultancy Manager

Job Summary
 
The Consultancy Manager shall report to the Deputy Managing Director (DMD). 

The Manager shall coordinate all activities relating to Consultancy Projects and the Professional short courses programmes and responsible for delivering projects to clients. 

He/She will provide objective advice, coordinate experts and specialists with the aim of creating value, maximizing growth and improving the business performance of the unit.

Job Description:
  • Soliciting for Profitable Consultancy Projects
  • Managing Consultancy Projects and Professional Short Courses Training Programmes
  • Preparing Consultancy Proposals and Presentations
  • Conducting, Analysis and Facilitating Consultancy Workshops
  • Management of Client Relationships
  • Monitoring and Evaluation of Projects
  • Drawing Annual Project Work Plans and Budgets.
Job Specifications:
  • Must possess a minimum of Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Economics or equivalent
  • At least five (5) years hands on experience in leading and managing consulting teams
  • Proven track record of proposal writing/research
  • Ability to develop budgets
  • Familiarity with Government and Development partners proposal guidelines
  • Extensive computer and analytical skills
  • Possess good communication and interpersonal skills.
3. Human Resource Officer

Reports to Senior Human Resource and Administrative Officer
 
Job Description:
  • Assisting in the preparation and maintenance of reports necessary for the functions of the Human Resources department.
  • Assisting in the maintenance of Human Resource and Information Systems (HRIS) database and generates scheduled or requested reports.
  • Keeping employees’ records up-to-date by processing employee status changes in a timely manner.
  • Assisting in the tracking and maintaining a data base of staff training records.
  • Assisting in managing the logistics of the recruitment process.
  • Mailing out the candidates appointment documents as requested and tracks return.
  • Preparing paperwork required for new hires and establishes personnel file.
  • Taking minutes in staff meetings
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Senior Human Resource and Administration Officer.

  • Degree in Human Resource with two years experience in a busy Human Resource Office

4. Marketing Officer

Job Summary

 
The marketing and Communications officer shall report to the Head Business Advisory Services. 

The Officer shall plan, develop, and implement a comprehensive and innovative marketing, public relations, and promotion of programmes aimed at increasing the awareness and demand of the UON/UNES Products and Services. 

The officer shall provide marketing and advertisement support to the Company and its business units (UNES Business Units, Consultancy unit and UON IGUs managed at UNES).

Job Description
  • Develop marketing initiatives for the company
  • Marketing the Business Units’ products and services
  • Developing promotional materials and liaising with advertising agencies where appropriate and liaison with the media
  • Developing Customer care programmes
  • Conducts market research
  • Reviewing and recommending price policy changes
  • Responsible for annual UNES Marketing budget

Job Specification
  • A Bachelors Degree in Business Administration (Marketing Specialization) or its equivalent

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, includes editing and proofreading to produce quality marketing materials. Strong writing skills with the ability to compose creative, concise directed copy, which is both informative and accurate.
  • Ability to interpret trends, define problems, conceptualize solutions and convert to practical applications.

5. Assistant Accountant, Income 

Ref: UNES/F/AAI/06-12 

(One position)

Job Description
  • Carrying out reconciliations of Customers accounts.
  • Preparation of Credit Vouchers and posting them into the system.
  • Preparation and dispatching customer statements.
  • Assists in preparing Revenue Ledger Reconciliations on a monthly basis.
  • Ensure that revenues received are properly receipted and accounted for.
  • Ensure filing and retrieval of expenditure proof sheets and transfer documents
  • Ensuring proper coding and proper description of Income.
  • Compilation of Catering Levy Reports
  • Recording of all incoming documents.
  • Preparing monthly bank reconciliation statements.
  • Assist in preparing ageing analysis of debtors
  • Participation in monthly and final stock takes.
  • Performing any other duties assigned by the Supervisor
Job Specification
  • Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting Option) Degree or Equivalent
  • At least 3 years relevant experience 2 of which must be as an Accounts Assistant
  • Possess CPA II or equivalent
  • Possess relevant computer and analytical skills
  • Possess good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and long hours including weekends
6. Accounts Assistant / Cashier

(One position)

Job Description:
  • Collection of tuition fees and issuance of fees statements
  • Invoicing students for fees payable and providing fees statements
  • Confirming students` billings for clearing, caution refunds and other purposes
  • Collecting of application fees and issuing of application forms
  • Recording and receipting of incoming institutional cheques such as Bursaries, Constituency Development Fund, and UoN staff deductions.
  • Confirmation of Students Refunds.
  • Participation in monthly and final stock takes.
  • Ability to work under pressure and long hours including weekends

Job Description:
  • Assisting in Market research, price survey and vendor rating;
  • Formulation of questionnaires;
  • Collection of vendor rating and compilation and reporting of results thereof;
  • Carrying out selling activities at the shop floor.
Minimum Qualification:
  • Diploma in Business Administration;
  • At least one (1 ) year experience in a large bookstore or retail shop;
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines;
  • Good communication, interpersonal and analytical skills,
  • Ability to work long hours while standing and be Computer literate.
