Post Of Principal

Qualifications and Experience

The Principal shall be the Chief Executive of the University College and should have the following qualifications and experience:
  • Be a Professor or Associate Professor with an earned Ph.D or its equivalent from a recognised University.
  • At least 10 years of experience in senior academic and management positions at the level of senior lecturer and above.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in a modern university environment.
  • Ability and leadership skills to effectively coordinate the academic and administrative functions in the University College. Provide academic and research leadership
  • Knowledge and experience in strategic planning and master planning in education development
  • Proven capacity to promote learning, teaching, research and development and extension in a university.
  • Have a good understanding of the national laws, policies and strategies governing University education and training in Kenya.
  • Have a broad awareness of the factors and conditions shaping the development of higher education in the country.
  • Demonstrate evidence of excellent interpersonal relations, good communication and negotiation skills.
  • Have experience in international and regional collaboration in higher education.
  • Have credible track record in resource mobilization.
  • Meet the provisions of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Working under the general direction of the Council the successful applicant shall:
  • Be the academic, administrative head of the University College.
  • Steer the formulation and implementation of the College’s strategic and master plans.
  • Be responsible for the overall day-to-day management, design, direction, organization, administration and programmes of the University College.
  • Be responsible to the Council for the general conduct and discipline of staff and students.
  • Ensure effective accountability to the Council for proper management of the University College’s facilities and resources.
Post of Deputy Principal (Administration, Planning and Finance)

Qualifications and Experience

The requirements for the two positions are as follows:-
  • Be a Professor or an Associate Professor with an earned Ph.D who has at least six (6) years experience in senior management position in university sector or any other large institution with outstanding and internationally recognized scholarship record.
  • Demonstrate competence in administrative and academic leadership in academic/research environment.
  • Have a track record of success and performance characterized by visionary and strategic thought, rapid growth and service delivery as well as translation of ideas into value outputs.
  • Have the capacity to motivate and influence staff, students and other stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate evidence of outstanding ability to communicate effectively and have good interpersonal skills.
  • Show good understanding of university functions and procedures and have experience in financial management including planning and budgeting.
  • Have experience in strategic and master planning.
  • Have knowledge and experience in Public procurement and Disposal procedures.
  • Have knowledge and experience in Performance Contracting.
  • Have experience in Resource Mobilization.
  • Have a good understanding of the national policies and strategies governing University education and training in Kenya.
  • Have a broad awareness of the factors and conditions shaping the development of higher education in the country.
  • Meet the provisions of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • The Deputy Principal (Administration, Planning and Finance) will be the Principal Assistant to the University College Principal and will take charge of Administration, Planning and Finance Division.
  • The Deputy Principal, Administration, Planning and Finance shall be the head of the Administration, Planning and Finance Division and shall be responsible for human resource, administrative, financial, infrastructural and development matters.
  • The successful candidate shall be responsible for ensuring that the Administration, Planning and Finance departments operate effectively and efficiently in line with the Vision and the Mission of the University College.
Post Of Deputy Principal (Academic And Student Affairs)

Qualifications and Experience

The requirements for the two positions are as follows:-
  • Be a Professor or an Associate Professor with an earned Ph.D who has at least six (6) years experience in senior management position in university sector or any other large institution with outstanding and internationally recognized scholarship record.
  • Demonstrate competence in administrative and academic leadership in academic/research environment.
  • Have a track record of success and performance characterized by visionary and strategic thought, rapid growth and service delivery as well as translation of ideas into value outputs.
  • Have the capacity to motivate and influence staff, students and other stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate evidence of outstanding ability to communicate effectively and have good interpersonal skills.
  • Show good understanding of university functions and procedures coupled with a passion for the promotion of learning, excellence in teaching, research and innovation with the highest ethical standards, integrity and professionalism.
  • Have skills, capacity and determination to initiate and facilitate the development of relevant and quality market and society driven academic programmes.
  • Have proven capacity to promote learning, teaching, research and development in the University setting.
  • Have a good understanding of the national policies and strategies governing University education and training in Kenya.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • The Deputy Principal (Academic and Student Affairs) will be the Principal Assistant to the University College Principal and will take charge of Academic and Student Affairs Division.
  • The Deputy Principal, Academic and Student affairs shall be the head of the Academic Division and shall be in charge of all academic, research and extension activities and student affairs of the University College.
  • The successful candidate shall be responsible for ensuring that the academic departments, student affairs, research and outreach activities operate effectively and efficiently in line with the Vision and the Mission of the University College.
Terms and Conditions of Service

The successful candidates will be offered competitive remuneration packages in accordance with the existing terms and conditions of service.

Employment for the above positions of Principal and Deputy Principals will be on a five-year performance based contract and renewable only once on mutual agreement.
