County Government of Kilifi

County Public Service Board
The County Public Service Board of Kilifi wishes to recruit competent and qualified persons to fill the following positions in accordance with the National Police Service Act, 2011 section 41(1)(e) and section 41 (2).

County Policing Authority (6 Members)


Applicants are invited for the membership of the County Policing Authority and shall be recommended by the relevant organizations.
Applicants shall be persons ordinarily residents in the County. 

Members appointed shall serve for a term of two years and shall be eligible for reappointment for one further term .Applicants shall be drawn from the following:

I . Business Sector

2. Community based Organizations

3. Women Organizations

4. Persons with Special Needs

5. Religious Organizations

6. Youth Organizations

Functions of the Authority shall be to-

a. Develop proposals on priorities, objectives and targets for police performance in the county;

b. Monitor trends & patterns of crime in the county including those with specific impact on women and children;

c. Promote community policing initiatives in the county;

d. Monitor progress and achievement of set targets;

e. Provide financial oversight of the budget of the county police;

f. Provide feedback on the performance of the police service at the county level county police;

g. Provide a platform through which the public participate on all the aspects to do with county policing and the national police service at county level;

h. Facilitate public participation on county policing authority;

j. Ensure policing accountability to the public;

j. Receive reports from community policing forums and committee; and

k. Ensure compliance with the national policing standards.

Requirement for Appointment

Applicants should meet the following qualifications:-


a) Must have a minimum of Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examination (KCSE) C Plain or its equivalent.

b) Should not be a State or Public Officer

c) Must be conversant with security issues in Kilifi County.

d) Should have a good understanding of the National Policing Standards.

e) Should be able to set priorities, monitor and evaluate performance.

f) Should attach a letter of recommendation from their relevant organizations.

A person shall not be qualified for appointment as a member if that person:

a) Has violated the constitution

b) Is adjudged bankrupt

c) Is not of good character or moral standing

d) Has been convicted of a felony

e) Has not been resident or employed in the county for a continuous period of not less than three years

f) Must meet the requirements of Chapter six of the Constitution

Applicants must attach copies of their Curriculum Vitae, Academic and Professional Certificates and National IDs.

Applicants must also Obtain Statutory Clearance Certificates (To comply with chapter six of the constitution)

All applications should be delivered to office of the secretary, County Public Service Board located off Hospital lane next to Kilifi Law Courts, Kilifi Town.

The application should reach the Secretary County Public Service Board on or before Friday 17th December, 2013.
