Regional Business Development Manager (East Africa)

Job Description: This position will be responsible for managing, developing and further growing the regional office of SCOPEinsight B.V. in Nairobi, Kenya. The scope of the responsibility currently consists of Kenya and Ethiopia with growing business in Uganda, Tanzania, and Rwanda as well. Expansion to other East African countries with a bigger presence is our ambition. When needed, the territorial scope could also include West and Southern African countries.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

 

General Management:
  • Manage and run the regional SCOPEinsight office in Nairobi, Kenya which would include the management of a small but highly dedicated and hands-on team.
  • Manage and supervise the Financial, Administrative and HR issues.
Commercial:
  • Marketing and Acquisition: Working in tandem with the head office in Utrecht (The Netherlands) in the acquisition of potential new customers. The Regional Business Developer will be expected to strategically align the plan forward in line with the Corporate Strategy set by the HQ.
  • Customer Relationship Management: This includes maintaining good relationships with customers or potential customers and suppliers. You will create and maintain powerful multi-stakeholder partnerships and business relationships.
Operations:
  • Process and Quality Management: Closely manage the SCOPEinsight processes. You will also be expected to maintain a constant culture and environment of Process Optimization, Quality Management and improving Efficiency with the team.
  • Project Management: Oversee projects in the East-African Market and when necessary, other territories, in close cooperation with the Projects Manager.
The candidate should ultimately bring together the strategies and activities between Operations, Business Development, Marketing & Acquisition and Project Management with a strong emphasis on Quality Management in accordance with the team.

Candidate Requirements:
  • A First Degree in a relevant field such as Agriculture or Bachelor of Commerce with a Masters’ degree in Agriculture or Business administration;
  • At least 5 years relevant experience in a senior management position in an agricultural-linked environment;
  • Experience in an International Organization and/or experience in working and dealing with a diverse multicultural workforce;
  • Proven experience and/or a significant network in either the Banking/ Financial Industry or the NGO field dealing with markets is a strong preference;
  • Strong Operational and supervisory experience with a focus on achieving Operational Excellence;
  • Proven experience in managing and developing a team;
  • Excellent Command of both Verbal and Written skills in English is mandatory. Strong presentation, report writing and negotiation skills;
  • Affinity/ Exposure to ISO Certification as well as setting Quality Management Systems;
  • The courage and confidence to set out and follow an innovative path;
  • Must have good Computer Skills (MS-Office) and also be comfortable around IT-Systems.
