Nairobits Trust is a youth ICT training and empowering institution that deals with vulnerable youth. It was established about 10 years ago with a vision of putting youth on the cutting edge of technology aimed at alleviating poverty.

Nairobits also has a vision of empowering youth in improving their lives by increasing their chances in the
job Market. The organization has exemplary success in training about 6,000 youth most of whom have found jobs in the formal economy. It is an internationally recognized and has won several prestigious international awards.

On the financial front Nairobits has multiplicity of donors that have different budgeting and reporting requirements.

Currently the organization has grown in the number of programs to require a full time program cordinator.

Main Purpose of the
Job:

To provide oversight and management for all programmes and ensure their quality and the achievement of set goals and results.

Objectives:
  • To develop relevant, effective and sustainable programme strategies, objectives, goals and plans within the organisation’s strategic framework;
  • In liaison with the General Manager to coordinate the implementation and general management of the organisation’s programmes and ensure that programme results are achieved effectively and efficiently.
  • To ensure that programme implementation and results are properly monitored and evaluated, thereby assuring that they have the desired impact.
  • In liaison with the General manager to ensure adequate programme reporting to relevant stakeholders
  • In liaison with the General Manager ensure a positive image of the organization.
  • To oversee the work of programme staff and provide encouragement and direction where necessary.
  • To ensure that a sound monitoring and evaluation system is in place that provides a sound basis for the development of new programmes or initiatives.
  • In liaison with the General Manager to ensure that there are adequate resources for the implementation of all programmes.
Job specifications:

Academic and Professional

Qualifications:
  • Preferably a postgraduate degree in a relevant social science discipline
Skills and Attributes:
  • Sound knowledge of the development sector and the socio economic and political situation in Kenya.
  • Sound knowledge of development theory, poverty and power relationships.
  • Sound appreciation of the Organization development approach and capacity building.
  • Good grasp of training as a discipline
  • Sound knowledge of strategic management
  • Knowledge of project planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
  • Knowledge in Micro Enterprise development and management
  • Good understanding of finance
  • Knowledge of the dynamics of international funding agencies.
  • Ability to network
  • Proven managerial and administrative ability
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Report writing skills
  • Ability to provide leadership and to motivate others
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to speak and write in English and Kiswahili.
  • Good working knowledge of computers and computer applications, multimedia training and exposure will be a definite advantage
  • Willingness and ability to relate with the poor and marginalized.
  • Ability to work in a small but highly computerised environment
  • Exposure in training in an ICT related discipline will be a definite advantage
  • Willingness to travel and work in harsh conditions
  • Ability to package and train in life skills curriculum including but not limited to: Reproductive health, HIV/AIDS, Drug and substance abuse, Self esteem, Social skills.
  • Gender awareness and sensitivity a must
  • Must be above 30 years of age, mature and focused
  • Working Experience: Five years’ relevant experience
