Western Education Advocacy and Empowerment Program (WEAEP) is a local Non Governmental Organization operating in Western Region. Its overall aim is to protect and promote the rights of women and children and create a society where these rights are respected and have opportunities to advance their livelihoods.

WEAEP works with street children, orphans living in poverty, and vulnerable women and girls often marginalized in rural areas of Kakamega and Bungoma Counties. WEAEP has the potential to expand to other areas based on the lessons and experiences learnt from implementation.

Program Administration Officer

Job Holder Summary:

To handle day-to-day administrations, provide technical HR support to the Programs Manager, assist the Accountant and the Programs Manager in administration of contracts for services/activities to be provided and supports the Programs Manager in the administration, making follow ups on legal matters and logistics of all program implementation tasks.
  • Procurement of goods and services to ensure value for money and to facilitate project implementation and completion;
  • Management of assets in the organization to ensure optimum utilization of resources and safety;
  • Administration of WEAEP social enterprise activities and funds and ensuring they support project charitable work;
  • Consistent and standard implementation of procurement, transport, office management systems in the organization;
  • Financial control and human resource administration;
  • Adhere and support implementation of WEAEP child protection policy.
Qualifications:
  • A degree in Commerce/Business Administration/Administration/Economics with CPA qualifications;
  • At least 3 years experience in a similar job in an NGO environment or busy institution;
  • Over 40 years old;
  • Clear understanding of government regulatory systems;
  • Good training skills in financial and procurement procedures.
Assistant Accountant

Job Holder Summary:

To assist the Program Accountant in Implementation of efficient and effective financial functions according to administrative systems including corporation planning and budget management.
  • Manage all cash office operations including preparation of a daily cash position report;
  • Monthly accruals, provisions and their incorporation into accounts;
  • Preparation and maintenance of Fixed Assets register/Schedule, and posting of depreciations’ journals for each period;
  • Monthly payroll processing, preparation of tax computation, timely submission of monthly and annual returns;
  • Monthly reconciliation of trade creditors and debtors accounts;
  • Monthly Bank reconciliation for all the organization’s bank accounts;
  • Assists in donor financial report preparation;
  • Preparation of Audit schedules in readiness for External Audit.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum CPA (K) and a relevant degree from a recognized university;
  • 3 years working experience in a busy finance environment with good planning and organizing skills;
  • Proficient in computerized accounting packages including Pastel/ACCPAK but most preferably QuickBooks.
