Finance Manager

Based at the Head Office in Nairobi and reporting to the National General Secretary and working very closely with other key staff within the Organization.

Overall Purpose

Responsible to the National General Secretary for developing, implementing and evaluating Financial plans and strategies to ensure and effective receipt and disbursement of funds in order to ensure that all financial transactions are in line with approved financial policies and procedures.

Core Duties and Responsibilities
  • Implementation of stringent expenditure control procedures by ensuring that proper authorization for all payments is strictly followed.
  • Preparation of tax returns to ensure compliance with periodic tax payments, information reporting and other statutory requirements as well as developing effective strategies fro minimizing tax liability.
  • Responsibility for preparation of payment vouches, cheque books and cash book records as well as financial statements and entries to monthly accounts in accordance with accounting regulations among other duties.
Desired Education and Experience
  • University degree preferably B.Com/ Business Administration-Accounting/Finance Option) Certified Public Accountant Certificate (CPA-K) Finalist.
  • At least 5 years proven working experience in an NGO.
  • Excellent computer and Analytical skills is a key prerequisite.
  • Above 30 years of age
National Programmes Co-ordinator

Based at the Head Office in Nairobi and reporting to the National General Secretary and working very closely with other key staff within the Organization.

Overall Purpose

The Programme Co-ordinator will report to the National General Secretary of Kenya YMCA and will provide leadership, strategic direction and be responsible for resource mobilization, effective coordination, management and execution of programmes nationally designed for the holistic transformation of youth.

Core Duties and Responsibilities
  • Oversight and Management of technical projects including planning implementation, undertake field visits, and reporting
  • Develop project proposals, create budgets and planning for new activities
  • Liaison with donors and potential funders to identify and pursue potential programme and funding opportunities
  • Impact documentation of projects and programmes/best practices countrywide.
  • Prepare regular financial expenditure reports in consultation with the Finance department
  • Support strengthening of communication strategy to make YMCA more visible to development actors in the country especially through project and programme brochures, case studies and press releases among other duties.
Desired Qualifications and experience:
  • Bachelors Degree from a credible University in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Social Work, Development planning, Community Development or a related field. A masters Degree will be an added advantage.
  • Over 3 to 5 years professional experience at project management level with a youth serving organization, National NGO, or government agency.
  • Result oriented with demonstrated ability to manage a team and work independently.
  • Proven ability in programme management, including planning, implementation, community mobilization, monitoring and evaluation.
  • Proven ability to undertake advocacy activities
  • Willingness to travel within Kenya and Internationally.
  • Computer Literate/ Above 30 years of age.
