The Commission on Administrative Justice (Office of The Ombudsman) is an Independent Constitutional Commission established under section 59 of the Constitution of Kenya. 

Its core mandate is to investigate any conduct in state affairs, maladministration, complaints of abuse of power, unfair treatment, manifest injustice or unlawful, oppressive, unfair or unresponsive official conduct within the Public Sector.

The CAJ is looking for a Kenyan Citizen to fill in the position of a Senior Manager, Advocacy and Communications as outlined below:-

This position will report to the Deputy Secretary Advocacy and Communications.

Key Tasks/Responsibilities
  • Ensuring that general protocol is observed at all times;
  • Coordinating and publicizing the Commissions’ corporate events;
  • Supervising and participating in the process of carrying out civic education on the Commission’s mandate;
  • Coordinating the management of the Commissions’ resource centres;
  • Monitoring and analyzing media coverage on issues relevant to the Commission and its’ mandate;
  • Providing the link between the Commission and the media;
  • Ensuring appropriate branding and visibility within and without the Commission;
  • Preparing appropriate programmes and activities for the Commission;
  • Documenting all Commission events through audio visual and print mechanisms for record and reference purposes;
  • Preparing and placing radio and television advertisements/info-mercials as appropriate;
  • Coordinating the preparation of speeches, presentations and any other information for official purposes;
  • Overseeing the preparation of exhibition materials to be used pubic fora;
  • Ensuring there are appropriate feedback mechanisms in place within the Commission;
Person Requirements:
  • First degree in Mass Communications/Social Sciences from a university recognized in Kenya;
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism/Public Relations/Communications;
  • At least 5 years proven work experience in Advocacy, Corporate Communications/Public relations in a dynamic environment;
  • Proven professional writing, editing and proof-reading experience preferably for the print media;
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously;
  • Good working knowledge of development and management of social media platforms;
  • Good knowledge of photography;
  • Must be computer literate in MS Office applications;
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must meet the requirements of Chapter 6 of the Kenya Constitution;
  • Must be a citizen of Kenya.
