Job Opening: Tour Coordinator – Olokira Ventures Ltd
 
Olokira Ventures Ltd is a leading organizer of safari packages in East Africa operating from Nairobi. 

We are looking for a self-driven and motivated Tour Coordinator whose primary role will be to plan, price and promote tours to domestic and international tourists.
 
Job Description
  • Propose tours after screening travel industry publications and tour operators' promotional literature.
  • Plan domestic tours including lodging, food and transportation arrangements; negotiates with tour operators on domestic and international tour packages and ticketing.
  • Arranges pre-tour briefings; arranges for space, speakers, refreshments and audiovisual equipment.
  • Conducts post-tour evaluations, analyses and reports response.
  • Prices tours and determine the cost to clients and the revenue generated by the tours.
  • Arrange for the collection of payment for transportation and accommodation from customer.
  • Client relationship management to include; assist clients to determine destination, mode of transportation, travel dates, financial considerations, and accommodations required.
  • Book transportation and hotel reservations, using computer terminal or telephone.
  • Provide customer with brochures and publications containing travel information, such as local customs, points of interest, or foreign country regulations.
  • Tracks and notifies travelers of payment received and balance due
  • Promotes tours and generates publicity by attending f travel fairs, tour & travel presentations providing information and drafting press releases.
  • Designs brochures and invitations
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of geography and travel industry in East Africa.
  • Skill in bargaining to purchase best travel package at economical price.
  • Skill in public relations and handling complaints.
  • Skill in organization in order to coordinate several tour events simultaneously.
  • Skill in both verbal and written communication.
  • Customer and Personal Service — Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Sales and Marketing — Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services. This includes marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration, sales techniques, and sales control systems.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Higher Diploma in Tourism Studies, Business Administration or related field;
  • AND One (1) year experience in travel or hotel industry;
  • OR, Five (5) years’ experience in travel or hotel industry;
  • OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
