Our client, Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA) is the national apex body of the private sector in Kenya. 

KEPSA’s mandate is private sector development through advocacy, projects and partnerships - both local and international. 

The organization influences public policy through policy formulation and implementation.
 
In line with its growth and expansion strategy, KEPSA is seeking self-driven individuals to fill the following key positions:

Policy Research Analyst
 

Ref: PRA/07/13
 
Reporting to the Advocacy and Communication Manager, the job holder will be responsible for developing and coordinating the implementation of KEPSA’s policy analysis and research in line with KEPSA’s strategic plan.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Setting up a business think-tank within KEPSA to strengthen internal capacity for policy/economic analysis;
  • Developing quarterly sectoral economic outlook reports, policy briefs and position papers in areas of interest to KEPSA;
  • Maintaining a database of past, current and proposed research projects;
  • Maintaining and updating an advocacy scorecard;
  • Coordinating the gathering of market intelligence for KEPSA and collating information for management decision making;
  • Leading the development and implementation of KEPSA’s knowledge management system; and
  • Maintaining relationships with local and international research and information organizations and bodies.
Job specifications:
  • A minimum of a Bachelors degree from an accredited institution with an emphasis in Economics, Business Statistics, Policy Analysis or related field;
  • At least five (5) years’ experience in market research, monitoring and evaluation;
  • Proficiency in statistical tools and computer applications;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills coupled with excellent presentation skills;
  • Excellent report writing, numerical and analytical skills;
  • Proficiency in modern project management techniques; and
  • Excellent publication record.
Advocacy Officer
 
Ref: AO/07/13
 
Reporting to the Head of Advocacy and Communication, the successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery, promotion and development of policy and legislative advocacy activities for KEPSA, geared towards improving the regulatory business environment.
 
Key responsibilities will include:
  • Designing, planning and implementing advocacy strategies and campaigns for the private sector;
  • Preparing and maintaining a database of KEPSA’s advocacy issues and updating advocacy matrices;
  • Liaising with KEPSA’s legal representative on the sector’s parliamentary issues such as Bills and Laws and informing the Sector Boards accordingly;
  • Ensuring sustainability of engagement platforms;
  • Coordinating private sector interaction with parliamentary Departmental Committees;
  • Researching on sector issues for discussions with the relevant stakeholders;
  • Preparing and coordinating inputs into position papers on topical issues in the country; and
  • Preparing weekly target outputs, calendar of events and relevant reports.
Job specifications:
  • A minimum of a Bachelors degree from an accredited institution with an emphasis in Law, Economics, Political Science or related field;
  • At least five (5) years’ experience in advocacy or policy analysis/development;
  • Strong knowledge of the private sector in Kenya and the policies and guidelines that govern it;
  • Proven track record in influencing government or key policy-makers;
  • Ability to write clear and concise reports; and
  • An appreciation of public policy will be an added advantage.
Marketing and Membership Services Officer
 
Ref: MMSO/07/13
 
Reporting to the Membership Manager, the job holder will be responsible for developing and executing marketing plans aligned with the Strategic Plan, including the development of branding and materials.
 
Key responsibilities will include:
  • Designing the overall marketing program;
  • Developing and maintaining a new member recruitment and sustainability plan;
  • Coordinating and monitoring all marketing activities and reporting;
  • Maintaining an up to date members database;
  • Conducting orientation programmes and coordinating activities for new members;
  • Conducting market research;
  • Effectively responding to member queries in accordance with the organization’s standards, policies and rules; and
  • Continuously assessing feedback from the organisation’s website.
Job specifications:
  • A minimum of a Bachelors degree from an accredited institution with an emphasis in Marketing, Sales, Public Relations or related field;
  • At least five (5) years’ experience in marketing or membership development services;
  • Experience in working with membership databases;
  • Good negotiation, leadership, interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Knowledge of member services functions and membership recruitment/retention; and
  • Excellent oral and written communication and people management skills with keen attention to detail and deadlines.
Executive Assistant

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer the job holder will be responsible for providing efficient and responsive administrative, organizational and technical services to the CEO.
 
Key responsibilities will include:
  • Attending key meetings with the CEO, preparing deliverables and monitoring implementation;
  • Arranging logistics for the CEO’s office meetings;
  • Keeping and maintaining an accurate record of correspondence on behalf of the CEO;
  • Carrying out background research on topical issues as may be required from time to time;
  • Ensuring that the CEO’s briefs and presentations are well prepared;and
  • Managing and maintaining the CEO’s calendar and guests.
Job specifications:
  • A minimum of a Bachelors degree from an accredited institution with an emphasis in Business Administration/Management or related field;
  • A minimum of five (5) years working experience in a similar position;
  • Understanding of public – private dialogue;
  • Demonstrated ability as a team player who can work under pressure and without supervision;
  • Computer proficiency with good presentation skills;
  • Excellent oral and written communication and time management skills with keen attention to detail and deadlines; and
  • Advocacy skills are an added advantage.
