The Competition Authority of Kenya is a Statutory Agency established under the Competition Act, 12 of 2010. The Authority’s mandate is to promote and safeguard competition and also protect consumers from unfair and misleading market conduct.

The Authority seeks to recruit a qualified and experienced communications Officer.
 
Communications / Public Relations Officer

One (1) Post
 

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing communication support to the Authority including policy dialogue activities to enhance visibility of the Authority.

Main duties & Responsibilities:-
  • Develop & execute Communication strategies for the following:-
  1. A strategy for policy promotion and engagement with policy makers to raise the visibility of CAK;
  2. A strategy for reaching out the private sector;
  3. A strategy on media engagement and stakeholders communication;
  • Build internal capacity for effective communication with key stakeholders;
  • Enhance policy dialogue;
  • Development of CAK brand identity:-
  1. Carrying out an assessment of the current CAK brand; identify and benchmark with other similarAgencies internationally.
  • Implementation of the Communication Strategy:-
  1. Develop and implement both external and internal communication policies and procedures;
  2. Develop monitoring and evaluation tools to measure the impact of Communication Strategy and Tools;
  3. Develop and execute a programme of gathering feedback from customers/consumers on regular basis;
  4. Develop targeted information on packages for different stakeholders groups;
  • Develop a proactive communication programme using social media to enhance the reputation and increase visibility of CAK;
  • Implement strategies that optimize CAK website.
Candidates should have:-
  • A degree in Communications/Public Relations studies from a recognized University;
  • A diploma in Mass Media from a recognized institution;
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience;
  • •Membership of a relevant professional body;
  • High level of attention to details, effective interpersonal skills, negotiations skills & good media relations;
  • Good communication skills
  • Self-motivation;
  • Competency in application of the latest Information Communication Technologies and effective use of social media;
  • Experience in transforming and implementing strategic change in communication and organizational positions;
  • Ability to develop new methods, procedures and approaches having organizational wide impact;
  • Able to create a new quality control system to monitor communication on divisional process;
  • Ability to organize and lead close Divisional work groups in developing creative solutions to address problems;
