Open Position: Monitoring and Evaluation Officer / Research Officer
 
Aidspan, a Kenya-based international think tank and independent observer of the Global Fund to Fight Aids, Tuberculosis and Malariahas a global mandate. 

Aidspan is recruiting a Monitoring and Evaluation Officer to 

(a) direct and manage all monitoring and evaluation activities, and 

(b) support and manage defined research activities.

The right candidate will fill a challenging and unique position in this lean, flexible and highly specialised organisation.
 
Selected Responsibilities
 

The M&E Officer reports to the Executive Director.
 
Monitoring
  • Develop the appropriate assessment tools to measure the indicators in the Performance Monitoring Framework
  • Help ensure use of M&E tools by giving training across the organisation.
  • Analyze data to inform planning.
  • Coordinate the bi-annual and annual review of the Strategic Plan.
Evaluation/ Research
  • Conduct internal evaluations, and provide advice in external evaluations.
  • Contribute to studies, surveys, case studies etc. evaluating the Aidspan Watchdog Model and the Global Fund.
  • Contribute to selected quantitative and qualitative research activities
Strategy and Planning
  • Design, implement and maintain institutional M&E systems.
  • Refine Aidspan’s M&E strategy to ensure the organization measures the effectiveness and impact of its work.
  • Coordinate the development of the annual work plans and the Strategic Plan.
Reporting
  • Prepare all reports, including compiling and editing the bi-annual and annual narrative reports.
  • Input into the relevant donor reports.
Selected Qualifications, knowledge, skills and attributes
 
Required:
  • A graduate / masters degree in public health, sociology, economics or related subject and at least 7 years’ experience in a combination of the following areas: M&E work (at a senior level), research design and implementation, advanced demographic analysis, and/or health evaluations.
  • Experience planning and creating databases, with easy user interaction.
  • A systems thinker with an understanding of quantitative and qualitative research and analysis.
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills.
Preferred:
  • Research Degree (could be ongoing).
  • Significant knowledge of the Global Fund.
This position is based at Aidspan’s office in Nairobi, Kenya. 

Applicants do not have to be Kenyan citizens.

 But, preference will be given to Kenyans, or those who have residency status.
 
Aidspan staff are employed on 2-year renewable contracts and competitive salaries are paid in Kenya shillings.
