The African Population & Health Research Center (APHRC) is an international non-profit, nongovernmental organization committed to conducting high quality and policy relevant research on population, health, education and development issues facing sub-Saharan Africa.
The Center seeks to fill the position of Training Officer.
- Ensure that all training program deliverables are met according to expected standards and in a timely manner
- Lead the design, delivery and evaluation of external research training programs
- Lead and facilitate external research training workshops
- Lead the planning and implementation of country and regional workshops
- Assess external research training priorities based on needs and resources
- Lead proposal development, literature review, and scientific writing
- Market training programs locally and across Africa, and recruit participants and facilitators
- Network with human resource managers, talent managers, training coordinators directors of organizations, and universities for research capability building
- Manage online, email, and phone inquiries and registration from potential participants
- Manage payments, maintain proper records and liaise with requisite staff to develop promotional materials
- Prepare research training and meeting reports, and facilitate the preparation of board materials
Qualifications and Experience:
- PhD in Health, Social Sciences, or related discipline
- Strong interest and 3 years’ experience in research capacity building and policy activities
- Must have prior experience working in research projects
- Experience working in research or academic institution, will be an added advantage
- Excellent administration and leadership skills
- Excellent writing and presentation skills
- Proficiency in French will be an advantage
