Currently they are involved in fabrication and installation of modular classrooms for schools in the slums areas in Kenya, and the region.

In order to continue with local growth and also set up a platform in the region, our client seeks to hire a Project Manager - Construction.

Job Summary: The Project manager will be responsible for the design, planning, costing, management, coordination, and financial control of modular classrooms.
 
Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of the project schedule
  • Help in the design of the project plan
  • Review the project plans, specifications, and comment on the classroom design, scheduling, possible cost savings measures, and potential construction problems.
  • Assist in the preparation of project budget
  • Assist in preparing the job site and equipment requirements
  • Expedite all drawings and approvals (as needed)
  • Monitor and maintain the project construction schedule on a weekly basis
  • Raise and discuss relevant issues at the job site meetings
  • Prepare and issue minutes of all site meetings
  • Expedite all change order (CO) costs, and maintain the current CO logs
  • Monitor site safety and ensure that the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OSHA) are enforced.
  • Maintain and enforce good construction standards and quality control
  • Maintain control and responsibility for the security and operation of the organization’s directly owned equipment on the job site in conjunction with site staff
  • Control and monitor labour, material, and equipment expenses
  • Prepare monthly cost forecasting summaries
  • Coordinate trucking (logistics) of classrooms from Mombasa to Nairobi
  • Coordinate the hire of crane and other construction equipment (as needed)
  • Review and approve purchase of materials
  • Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Educational and Professional Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Building Economics; quantity survey; Architecture or any other similar field
  • Member of Architects and Quantity Surveyors of Kenya
Experience and skills:
  • At least two years’ experience in a similar field
  • Excellent communication skills
