The County Government of Vihiga wishes to recruit competent and qualified candidates to fill the following vacant positions as provided under Section 44 and 63,65,66 of the County Government Act No. 17 of 2012.

Senior Gender and Social Development Officer - Job Group L (1 Post)

Terms of Service: Permanent

Requirements for Appointment
  • Degree or Diploma in social sciences preferably in Management or Administration.
  • Proven experience in social work with public or private organizations.
  • Highly talented in interpersonal, communication and writing skills.
  • Satisfy the requirements of chapter six of the constitution.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide written analysis of social issues in the County, incorporating social analysis of social inclusion and gender equality.
  • Ensure that access to social protection, female labor participation, child labor, gender inequalities and women’s empowerment issues are taken into account, monitored and reported.
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with development partners in the county.
  • Provide support, training and technical assistance to the partners on gender, social and other related topics.
  • Ensure gender and social integration in the day to day activities.
  • Provide support to all departments specific to gender mainstreaming, with particular emphasis on helping relevant departments analyze program implications for men and women in the county and ways to address social issues.
  • Design and implement trainings for counterpart and partners staffs on gender and social related topics and mainstream, including but not limited to gender awareness and integration, humans rights program management, gender inclusiveness towards more efficient and effective county operation.
  • Develop periodical reports on gender and social activities.

  1. A certificate of Good Conduct from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID)
  2. A clearance certificate from the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB)
  3. A tax compliance certificate from Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA)
  4. A certificate from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC)
  5. Clearance from any Credit Reference Bureau (CRB).
