The County Government of Vihiga wishes to recruit competent and qualified candidates to fill the following vacant positions as provided under Section 44 and 63,65,66 of the County Government Act No. 17 of 2012.

Structural Engineer I –Job Group L (1 Post)
 
Terms of Service: Permanent
 
Requirements for appointment
  • Be a Kenya Citizen
  • First Degree in Structural Engineering from a recognized university.
  • At least five years working experience in a similar capacity.
  • Excellent analytical and decision making skills.
  • Strong background in Structural and Architectural design.
  • Solid knowledge in steel, wood, concrete, and masonry is essential.
  • Team player and results oriented individual.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Be a registered with the Engineers Registration Board of Kenya (E RB).
  • A current valid practicing license from the Engineers Registration of Kenya.
  • Proficiency in relevant computer applications.
  • Should meet requirements of integrity as provided under chapter six of Kenya
  • Constitution, 2010.
Duties and responsibilities
  • Preparing Structural Engineering designs.
  • Assisting in tender documentation and budget estimates.
  • Supervising construction to ensure they meet Structural and Civic Designs.
  • Reviewing Drawings (Internal and External).
  • Carrying building Audits to establish status of service.
Civil Engineer I - Job Group L (1 Post)

  • First Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university
  • At least 2 years working experience in a similar capacity.
  • Excellent analytical and decision making skills.
  • Ability to think methodically, to design, plan and manage projects.
  • Team player and results oriented individual
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Be registered with the Engineers Registration Board of Kenya (ERB).
  • A current valid practicing license from the Engineers Registration of Kenya.
  • Proficiency in relevant computer applications.
  • Should meet requirements of integrity as provided under chapter six of Kenya Constitution 2010.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Undertaking technical feasibility studies including site investigations.
  • Managing budgets and projects resources
  • Monitoring and execution of work in specialized fields of engineering in the following:
  • Planning Design, Supervision of construction contracts, and Material investigation related in buildings.
Plant Operators - Job Group F (1 Post)

Terms of Service: 
Permanent

Requirements for Appointment
  • Be a Kenyan Citizen
  • Be a Form Four Certificate holder or KCPE with NYS training
  • Certificate in Civil Construction , Plant operations or its equivalent
  • Two years’ experience in operating particular equipment.
  • Current Driver’s license
  • Enjoy practical and manual work.
  • Able to follow precise instructions.
  • Be a team player
  • Physically fit with a good eyesight
  • Good hand -eye coordination
  • Able to work without supervision
  • Satisfy the requirements of chapter six of the constitution
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepare machines for operation
  • Work from drawings and markers under the direction of supervisor and Engineers.
  • Load and unload equipment from low loaders and move it around work sites
  • Select, change and operate special attachments such as winches, scrubs clearers, rippers, pile drivers and rock-breaking hammers
  • Break up paving, rock and similar material by operating hydraulic or pneumatic breakers
  • Excavate or scrape earth, rock or rubble to the correct level and alignment.
  • Load trucks with excavated fill.
  • Drive machines to and from work sites
  • Service equipment by cleaning, lubricating and refueling it and make minor adjustment and repairs when necessary.
Senior Information Communication - Job Group L (1 Post)
 

Terms of Service: Permanent
 

Requirements for Appointment
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science
  • Microsoft Certified System Administrator (MCSA)
  • Linux Professional System Certification (LPIC)
  • Oracle Certified Professional including SAP
  • Be ready to with work minimal supervision and a team player
  • Demonstrate high knowledge of ICT
  • Satisfy the requirements of chapter six of the constitution.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Performing routine audits of systems and software.
  • Installing and configuring new hardware and software.
  • Adding, removing, or updating user account information, resetting passwords. Monitor system performance and network administration
  • Installing and upgrading the Database server and application tools.
  • Enrolling users and maintaining system security.
  • Ensuring compliance with Database vendor license agreement.
  • Controlling and monitoring user access to the Database.
  • Planning for backup and recovery of Database information, maintaining archived Data and backing up and restoring Databases.

  4. A certificate from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC)
  5. Clearance from any Credit Reference Bureau (CRB).
