Our client, in the baby service industry is in need of anInformation Manager

Duty Station: Nairobi
 
Reporting to: Business Development Manager
 
Goal for Information Manager Role: To serve the knowledge and entertainment needs of the Company’s clients and staff in a manner that satisfies their purpose of engagement with the Company’s products and services and fulfils the promises and aspirations of these products and services.
 
Objectives of the Information Manager: To source, originate, generate, regulate, confirm, authenticate, retain, protect, archive, interpret and disseminate information within and outside the company.
  • Information means all content, in data, textual, illustrative and pictorial form.
  • The information may be held or released in any medium - including written, audio, and visual media.
  • The information may be physically or digitally managed.
  • Sourcing of information may be through procurement, partnerships, membership, subscription or any other channel that leads to information flow to the Company.
  • Information disposal may only be undertaken with express and proper authority.
Key indicators of success
  • Increase in number of visitors to web portals.
  • Level and intensity of engagement among visitors of the portal.
  • Increase in number of individual and corporate members.
  • Increase in number of partners.
  • Growth (both in volume and quality) of content.
  • Ease (limited by objective) of accessibility and use of information by clients and staff.
Requirements of the position
 
A clear understanding of:
 
1. The baby service industry, encompassing:
 
a) Reproductive health – maternal and paternal
b) Pregnancy and birth
c) Baby care
d) Child health
e) Needs and values of the family unit
 
2. The product and service needs of a baby’s growth and development.
 
3. The information life cycle of parenting.
 
4. The communication and entertainment approaches for family and baby.
 
Specific Responsibilities
 
1. Develop and implement Information Strategies for different categories of information.
 
2. Maintain daily information management log.
 
3. Effective and efficient management of information to specifically meet the needs of client and staff.
  • Selecting, acquiring, classifying, collating, storing for easy access and retrieval, cataloguing, editing, weeding, indexing, scanning, abstracting, digitizing, ensuring completeness, etc.
  • Disseminate information rapidly and accurately to users.
  • Responding to questions on information and clarifications sought by clients and staff via telephone, postal mail, email, fax, online chat and other channels.
4. Audit and quality control
  • Conducting quality checks, periodic information inventory and auditing information to ensure it meets the standards set by the Company.
  • Ensure conformity with copyrights.
  • Secure copy rights for all Company originated information.
5. Writing and editing
  • Writing and editing blogs, news pieces, articles, reports, publications and website content.
  • Originate, source, write story lines and edit content for videos and supervise the video production
  • Originate and disseminate minutes of meetings with clients and among staff.
6. Secure all information
  • Backing up information on a regular and scheduled basis.
  • Tracking and maintaining domain names.
